Its Okay Not To Be Okay

It’s okay to not feel your best every day. Not every day is filled with joy and positivity. When we’re encouraged to stay positive, it isn't to follow an agenda, but a conscious choice. Sometimes, we simply aren’t in that space—and that’s okay, too.

Go with how you feel, but maybe dial it down a notch to make sure your mood doesn’t affect those around you. While it can be hard, it’s important that our energy doesn’t bring others down. The hardest part about days like these is that we’re aware things aren’t great. We know it, we feel it, and even the little things that might have made us laugh on other days now feel irritating. But again, that’s okay. Sometimes, you just need to be kind to yourself.

Listen to your body. Our body and mind are separate, yet they work together. To be positive, grateful and thankful usually comes from the mind, with the body following. But too much of anything can become overwhelming. Every once in a while, your body needs its own space to feel how it wants—to be bad, greedy, angry, or just not yourself for a few days. And that’s perfectly fine.

Remember, this too shall pass. Keep in mind the effort you put in on better days to make things right. Let your loved ones know ahead of time that you need space, so they understand that it’s not the best time to question your behavior. This will help ease things, and soon enough, you know you’ll feel like yourself again!
